Flight Training in Oshkosh, Wisconsin

There are a lot of places you could learn to fly. Oshkosh is one of the few where aviation isn't just something that happens at the airport — it's part of the community's identity. If you're in the Oshkosh area and thinking about getting your pilot certificate, Oshkosh Aviation offers personalized, flexible instruction at one of the most iconic airports in the world.

Training at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH)

Wittman Regional Airport is home to EAA AirVenture, the world's largest aviation gathering, which transforms KOSH into the busiest airport on earth for one week every July. The rest of the year, it's a Class D towered airport with four paved runways — a training environment that gives students real-world ATC experience and the flexibility to work on different runway configurations as skills develop.

Training at KOSH means learning to communicate with a control tower, navigate controlled airspace, and operate professionally from day one. The traffic level is active enough to be realistic but manageable enough for a student to stay ahead of the airplane. It's a genuinely excellent place to learn.

And beyond the mechanics of it — there's something to training at an airport where aviation runs deep. The ramp culture, the flying clubs, the EAA presence, the people who just love airplanes. That environment shapes the kind of pilot you become.

Other Airports We Use

Depending on what we're working on, training may also take place at:

  • Appleton International (KATW) — Another Class D towered airport, great for cross-airport experience and students based in the Fox Valley
  • Fond du Lac County Airport (KFLD) — A quieter environment well-suited for solo practice and maneuver work
  • Smaller regional airports — Cross-country training naturally takes you to airports throughout Wisconsin and beyond

What Makes Oshkosh Aviation Different

Instructors who teach because they love it

Oshkosh Aviation is a growing program with a clear standard: every instructor needs to be passionate about the craft of teaching. As the program continues to evolve, that foundation stays constant. Every CFI is here because instruction matters to them — which means more focused lessons, genuine engagement in your progress, and training that actually moves forward.

Structured training, Part 61 flexibility

Part 61 gives you flexibility in scheduling and pacing — but that doesn't mean your training should be ad hoc. We use a structured curriculum and modern technology to track progress, plan lessons with purpose, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. You'll always know where you are and what's next.

Scheduling built around your life

We work with students who have jobs, families, and full lives. Weekend-only schedules, evening ground lessons, flexible rescheduling when life happens — we build a plan that works for you and stick to it.
